ELEFTHERIA Scholarship Opportunities

Presented by Hellenic News of America, Hermes Expo International & Mid-Atlantic Greek-American Foundation

Eligibility:  Each contestant must be a full-time student in high school or an undergraduate student at an accredited college/university in the Mid-Atlantic States (DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, and VA).

Application Due Date: November 1, 2017

Rules

Submit a 700-1,000 word essay on the any of the topics below:

a. The principles of our contemporary Western civilization are based on the principles of Hellenic and Roman civilization, and Christianity. What principles of Western civilization are due exclusively to Greek civilization, what exclusively to the Roman civilization and/or both?

b. The Significance of “OXI DAY” for the Greeks and the world.

c. The importance of Greek American Print Media as the intercommunication means for our communities.

 

Scholarship Awards:  Will be presented at the 30th Anniversary of the Hellenic News of America Awards Dinner at the Merion in Cinnaminson, NJ on Sunday, November, 12 2017, at 4:30 PM

 

Please specify which scholarship you are applying for when you submit your essay: 

1.  Two scholarships of $1,500 in Honor of Archon Michael Psaros, KPS Capital Partners   

2. Three scholarships of $1,500 each in Memory of Theodore Spyropoulos for a semester in Greece.

3.    Three scholarships of $1,500 each in Memory of Dr. Theodore Lyras for a semester in Greece.

4.    Three scholarships of $1,500 each in Memory of Christos Tomaras for a semester in Greece.

5.    One scholarship of $1,500 in Honor of HANC for a semester in Greece.

6.    One scholarship of $1,500 in Honor of PanLaconian Federation of USA and Canada for a semester in Greece.

7.    One scholarship of $1,500 in Honor of New England Hellenic Societies Federation for a semester in Greece.

8.    One scholarship of $1,500 in Honor of PanMacedonian Association of America for a semester at Aristotle and Macedonia Universities in Thessaloniki, Greece.

9.    One scholarship of $1,500 in Honor of Dodecanesian Societies Federation for a semester at the University of Aegean, Rhodes, Greece.

10. Ten scholarships of $750 for a three week summer class with a study tour around Greece in honor or memory of Greek Studies supporters.

11.  Ten scholarships of $500 for a three week summer class in honor or memory of Greek Studies supporters.
